Calling All Horror Writers (Yes, Even You, Weirdo)
Horror is a lonely business.
You spend nights thinking about things most people politely avoid. Death. Guilt. Systems that chew people up and call it progress. Then you hit “publish” and wonder if anyone else is out there tapping the same frequency.
Consider this a flare.
If you’re writing horror, I’d love to connect. Short stories. Novellas. Experiments that don’t fit anywhere. The things your friends refuse to read because “that sounds dark.”
I’m especially interested in writers who:
Like horror with teeth and subtext.
Enjoy bureaucracy, technology, or capitalism as the actual monster.
Aren’t trying to write content farm jump-scares.
Believe dread works better than explanation.
Sometimes wonder if they’re the only one who thinks a spreadsheet can be terrifying.
This Substack isn’t about chasing trends or pretending to have it all figured out. It’s a workbench. A place to talk process and failures. We can discuss why certain stories won’t leave you alone no matter how many times you try to ignore them.
I’m not here to sell you a masterclass. I’m here to compare notes in the dark.
If you’re another horror writer circling similar obsessions, reach out. Maybe it’s AI or corporate rot. Maybe it’s ghosts hiding inside normal life. Drop a comment. Tell me what scares you lately. Tell me what you can’t get to land on the page.
We’re all building our monsters alone. No reason not to swap blueprints.
Miles to go…
